T.i.M. – TIme is Money

Money is not merely a medium of exchange, but a symbol of power, status, and social boundaries. By hand-stitching countless tiny fragments of shredded banknotes onto canvas, the work reveals the fragility of these boundaries and the transience of our values. The former currency, now utterly devoid of monetary worth, gains new value through the time invested in its transformation. In a society where money shapes our standards and the gap between rich and poor continues to widen, „Time is Money“ raises questions about true value.

Geld ist nicht nur ein Tauschmittel, sondern Symbol für Macht, Status und soziale Grenzen. Durch das Aufnähen einzelner winziger Schnipsel geschredderter Banknoten per Hand auf Leinwand wird die Fragilität dieser Grenzen und die Vergänglichkeit unserer Werte aufgezeigt. Das ehemalige Geld, nun ultimativ wertloses Material, erhält allein durch die investierte Zeit neuen Wert. In einer Gesellschaft, in der Geld unsere Maßstäbe formt und die Kluft zwischen Arm und Reich wächst, stellt „Time is Money“ die Frage nach den wahren Werten.
