„For a Year!“ is a series that engages with conservation campaigns while critically examining them. Individual elements of the selected species — such as perch scales for the „Fish of the Year 2023“ or hedgehog spines and bones for the „Animal of the Year 2024“ — are transformed into precise structures and meticulously hand-stitched onto canvas. The works reveal both the fragility of these creatures and the limited impact of symbolic conservation efforts. The series title ironically plays with the gesture of toasting: the focus is less on the animal itself than on one’s own good conscience… for one year.

„Auf ein Jahr!“ ist eine Serie, die Naturschutzaktionen aufgreift und kritisch hinterfragt. Einzelne Elemente der ausgewählten Arten, wie Barschschuppen für den „Fisch des Jahres 2023“ oder Igelstacheln und -knochen für das „Tier des Jahres 2024“, sind in präzise Strukturen überführt und von Hand auf Leinwand aufgenäht. Die Arbeiten machen die Zerbrechlichkeit der Lebewesen sichtbar und zugleich die geringe Wirksamkeit symbolischer Schutzaktionen. Der Serientitel spielt ironisch mit dem Gestus des Anstoßens: im Fokus steht weniger das Tier als das eigene gute Gewissen…für ein Jahr.
